Apple hires a former Google executive to lead AI marketing
Apple hires Lilian Rincon, former Google, to lead AI marketing and prepare a revamped Siri.
Apple has recently hired Lilian Rincon, a former executive at Google, to oversee its artificial intelligence (AI) marketing efforts. Rincon, who spent nine years at Google leading shopping tools and the assistant, now holds the position of Vice President of Product Marketing for AI at Apple.
A Strategic Hire in the AI Field
This appointment comes as Apple is preparing to launch an updated version of its virtual assistant Siri, now rebuilt using Google’s AI technology. According to a report from Reuters, Apple and Google announced earlier this year that the new version of Apple’s foundational models would be based on Google Gemini and its cloud technology. These advancements will enable the integration of new features into Siri as well as other tools utilizing the Apple Intelligence system.
Rincon, who has also worked at Skype and Microsoft previously, announced her departure from Google last week via her LinkedIn profile. In her post, she stated: "From building Google Assistant from the ground up to reinventing the future of shopping in the AI era, it has truly been one of the great privileges of my career."
Strengthened Collaboration Between Apple and Google
Last year, Apple had already brought on Amar Subramanya, a former AI leader at Microsoft and a long-time engineer at Google, for the position of Vice President of AI. Subramanya contributed to the development of the Gemini assistant.
Additionally, Apple plans to allow Siri to access third-party AI assistants, giving users the option to choose which service to query. This feature, called "Extensions," will be part of the updated version of Siri, which will be integrated into the upcoming iOS 27 operating system. According to Bloomberg News, this evolution, while providing the iPhone with expanded capabilities as an AI platform, is not expected to affect the partnership between Apple and Google.
See You at WWDC 2026

Finally, Apple announced that it would share details of its advancements in artificial intelligence during its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which will be held online from June 8 to 12. In a statement, the company said: "WWDC26 will showcase incredible updates for Apple platforms, including advancements in AI as well as exciting new software and development tools."
With these strategic hires and partnerships, Apple continues to strengthen its position in the artificial intelligence market while promising major innovations for its users.
